Gastroscopy

When performing a gastroscopy, the physician examines the upper gastrointestinal tract, consisting of the oesophagus, the stomach and the upper duodenum. Secretion and tissue samples can also be taken and even minor surgical procedures are possible.

Our “Gastroenterologie München Bogenhausen” practice specialises in performing gastroscopies. We have a wealth of experience in this field and you can contact us at any time if you have questions about this examination. Our goal is to make your gastroscopy as pleasant as possible and quickly uncover the cause behind your symptoms.

In our practice, all endoscopy procedures are performed using a video processor and endoscopes from the Olympus 180 Series, one of the most up-to-date device series in modern endoscopy. In addition to providing the physician with high quality HDTV images, it also allows images to be processed using narrow-band-imaging (NBI), a special processing method that enhances the visualization of mucosal patterns.

All procedures are performed using CO2 gas rather than room air to inflate the colon. We offer this as a special service to our patients as CO2 is more easily absorbed by the body and is less likely to induce adverse symptoms such as bloating.
