Colonoscopy

The colonoscopy is an important diagnostic option for patients suffering from intestinal afflictions. The examination can be used for a variety of symptoms such as diarrhoea, flatulence, abdominal pain, anal itching or blood in the stool and provides indications regarding the causes. It is also the most important preventive examination for detecting bowel cancer at an early stage.

Our “Gastroenterologie München Bogenhausen” practice specialises in performing colonoscopies and we have a wealth of experience in this field. There is thus no reason to fear the procedure as you can fully rely on our experienced hands.

In our practice, all endoscopies are performed using a video processor and endoscopes from the Olympus 180 Series, one of the most up-to-date device series in modern endoscopy. In addition to providing the physician with high quality HDTV images, it also allows images to be processed using narrow-band-imaging (NBI), a special processing method that provides enhanced visualization of mucosal patterns.

All procedures are performed using CO2 gas rather than room air to inflate the colon. We offer this as a special service to our patients as CO2 is more easily absorbed by the body and is less likely to induce adverse symptoms such as bloating.
